Reader trust

Sources and reporting notes.

Published stories identify the public documents, data, disclosures, and on-record materials that help readers evaluate the reporting.

What appears on a story

When a source can be shared publicly, it appears in the Sources & updates section beneath the article. Labels distinguish source material, data, documents, and disclosures.

Confidential sources

Some reporting may rely on people who face a credible risk from being named. Editors must document the source internally, verify material claims independently where possible, and explain anonymity to readers when it is central to the report.

Updates and corrections

Material changes are recorded with the story. To report a possible error, use the corrections form.
